Bloomberg Server Load Experiments

The goal of these experiments is to investigate how an active server with application loads can affect the temperature around its neighborhood.

Setting #1

The server load varies as follows: 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, OFF. Each stage lasts about 30 minutes.

Sensor locations do not change, but the hot-aisle sensors for HHPC-119 and HHPC-102 are now attached to the exhaust vents of the servers. Note that HHPC-082 and HHPC-102 now have 2 and 4 additional sensors respectively.

Experiment #7: Air Flow, 20100927/19:51 ~ 20100927/20:35   
The purpose of this experiment is to see if active servers can influence the vertical airflow above them. Intutively, if a server starts its fans, less cold air should be available to the servers above it.
